What a racquet, tennis players behaving badly …again

The outrage of John McEnroe while playing, was the first insights into uncontrolled, bad behaviour. As a non-tennis player, I have watched from “afar” to try and get a sense of how “The game of Kings and Queens” has deteriorated over the years.

The Staff of players (managers and coaches) the TV broadcasters, the Game Keepers of the  rules, plus the umpires, all need to have “Tennis Match Moment” – The idea that smashing a tennis racquet does not automatically register “One point?, Two pints”, “Loss of game” is beyond common sense.

All we have done is made the extreme bad behaviour more ‘Normalised” and by doing so, guess what? Yup, you guessed it, friends who train kids at tennis are now seeing “Tennis Tantrums” at training.

You smash a Tennis racquet on a tennis court, you get a points violation … you smash a racquet on TV and bring the game into “disrepute” you lose points plus 20% of match fee’s .

20% of $2,000,000 is $400,000 – that should be enough of a deterrent … BUT they are tennis players and we didn’t say they were smart or sportsman like.
